TCF – Frequently Asked Questions
Candidates must present one of the following valid forms of identification:
• A valid driver’s license
• A valid passport
The ID must be current and match the name used during registration.
The TCF exam includes both written and oral components:
• Written test: approximately 3 hours
• Oral test: approximately 20 minutes
• All written components of the TCF exam are completed on a computer.
• The oral section is conducted in person with an examiner.
The keyboard will be in English (QWERTY).
• French accents are available on the screen of the computer.
• The computer is not a touchscreen.
• A mouse can be provided upon request.
The exam sections are completed in the following order:
1. Listening Comprehension
2. Reading Comprehension
3. Written Expression
4. Oral Expression
Results are typically available within 10 to 21 days after the exam date.
Candidates are encouraged to take private classes with one of our instructors. Lessons can be held onsite or online.
Your TCF results will be delivered by email to the address you provided at the time of registration. Please ensure your email information is accurate and check your inbox (including spam/junk folder) for your official results notification.
Eating is not allowed in the testing room once the test has started. You may, however, bring a water bottle with you into the testing room.
No, there are no breaks between the different sections of the exam. The test is conducted continuously according to the official schedule.
Unfortunately, candidates are not permitted to bring & use their own keyboard during the exam.
