Baptiste, imitateur de talents, ne parvient pas à vivre de son art. Un jour, il est approché par Pierre Chozène, un romancier célèbre mais discret, dérangé par les importuns, les solliciteurs, les mondains, les fâcheux. Pierre a besoin de calme pour terminer son texte le plus ambitieux, le plus intime. Il propose alors à Baptiste de devenir sa voix au téléphone, et c'est ainsi que Baptiste devient son répondeur, à leurs risques et périls...

One day, he is approached by Pierre Chozène, a renowned yet reclusive novelist who is constantly disturbed by unwanted callers, admirers, socialites, and other persistent interruptions. Needing peace and quiet to complete his most ambitious and personal work, Pierre offers Baptiste an unusual proposition: to become his voice on the telephone. And so, Baptiste becomes his answering voice—much to both of their delight... and peril.
