Alliance Française Wine School – Bordeaux 201: A Deep Dive into Saint-Julien on the Left Bank of the Medoc
In Partnership with Spec's Wine, Spirits & Finer Foods
Following the success of our introductory Bordeaux class, the Alliance Française of Houston is proud to launch the next stage of our Wine School journey: a new series of advanced, in-depth explorations into France’s most prestigious wine regions and appellations.
For this special edition of Bordeaux 201, we invite guests to immerse themselves in Saint-Julien, one of the most celebrated appellations of the Left Bank of Bordeaux’s Médoc region. Known for producing wines of remarkable balance, structure, and elegance, Saint-Julien is home to some of Bordeaux’s most iconic châteaux and represents the perfect harmony between power and refinement.
Guided by Certified Sommelier James Barlow, guests will taste through an exceptional lineup of acclaimed 2019 vintages while exploring the terroir, classifications, history, and stylistic nuances that make Saint-Julien one of the crown jewels of Bordeaux.
This curated tasting will feature wines from:
- Château Branaire-Ducru 2019
- Château Talbot 2019
- Château Saint-Pierre 2019
- Château Léoville Poyferré 2019
- Château Gruaud Larose 2019
- Château Lagrange 2019
- Château Beychevelle 2019
With over 20 years at Spec’s Wine, Spirits & Finer Foods, James Barlow is a Certified Wine Educator, Certified Specialist of Spirits, and one of only 200 Bourgogne Wines Ambassadors worldwide.
Whether you attended our original Bordeaux class or are simply eager to deepen your understanding of one of France’s most legendary wine regions, this promises to be an unforgettable evening of education, tasting, and conversation.
